Mary (Thomson) Smyth (1922-2017)
Mary (Thomson) Smyth of Bury, Quebec passed away at the CHUS Hotel-Dieu on February 28, 2017, in her 95th year. Born in Cornhill, Banffshire, Scotland, Mary was the daughter of the late James Thomson and the late Annie Bain. Predeceased by her husband of 60 years Chester Smyth.
Loving mother to Shirley (Robert MacLeod), Larry (Joanne Chapman) and Richard (Jeannette Fortier). Proud Nanny to Edward Rudolph (Renée), Deborah Wootten (Mike), Tamara Lawrence, Cynthia Nowoczin (Blaine), David Smyth, Brandy Vallée (Jean), Ryan Norton (Sarah), Joshua Smyth, Ashley Renton (Jamie) and Ericka Smyth. Great Gramma to Tiffany, Kristen, Cameron, Jesse, Morgan, Martina, Keegan, Kole, Mariah, Shania, Danyka, Elijah, Jaya, Emmerson, Ben, Hailey, Denan, Mason, Karrah, Kyle, Brianna and Emma.
Great-Great Gramma to Austin, Paetyn and Sydney. Sister to Robert (Pearl) Archibald.
Predeceased by her son Raymond, granddaughter Brandy Smyth, brothers Alexander and John Archibald, and brothers and sisters-in-law Earl Smyth, Hilda (Daniel Lawrence), Julia Smyth, Evelyn (Jack Garneau) and Howard (Ethel Dougherty).
Visitation will take place on Saturday May 27, 2017 at St-Paul's Church, Bury from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. The funeral service will followed at 11 a.m. Burial in the Bown cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bown Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.

Douglas Thomson
1940 - 2017
The family is sad to announce the passing of Douglas Earl Thomson May 28th, at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, after a several year battle with cancer.
He leaves behind Dorothy, his wife, love and best friend for more than four decades. She was the inspiration for many songs he wrote, and his travel companion on numerous adventures in Canada and around the world.
He also leaves behind three wonderful children, Carllie (Bernie), Deborah, and Christopher (Christine); and 6 grandchildren, Adam, Amandah, Angela, Epic, Jared, and Sylvia. He was predeceased by his father Earl Douglas, his mother, Dorothy, and his stepfather Richard.
Doug was proud of many of his life achievements including; winning the Canada Jaycees National Effective Speaking competition; writing over 100 songs; numerous books including "Lottery Inc." that reached #3 on the McNally Robinson best seller list; Vice President, Johnson & Higgins; Executive Vice President, Field Aviation; President and CEO of Southport Aerospace; founding Winnipeg Chair and several time award winner of The Executive Committee (TEC); President of the Winnipeg West Rotary Club; President of Fort Garry Progressive Conservative Riding Association; Chairman of the Board of Mount Royal University, Versatech Industries, and Elite Communications; Board member of Riverview Health Centre.
In Doug's honor, The Doug and Dorothy Thomson Scholarship for Geriatric Palliative Care Nursing has been established at the Winnipeg Foundation by Doug's Executive Committee members.
Doug loved life and his family and leaves with a smile and thank you for having enjoyed his 76 years.
A service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Tuesday June 6th at 2:00pm, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre Foundation. 1 Morely Ave East, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 2P4
